DESCRIPTION
Many people believe that everyone who uses heroin is addicted. In fact, this is true of only about 20 percent of heroin users. By clearing up common misconceptions like these, this book provides information that can save the lives of people using the drug. The author recounts heroin's history, details its chemistry, tells what users need to know to avoid addiction, and demystifies the life of a user: from buying to administering to detoxing and staying clean.

This is a very introductory book about heroin. It seeks to inform the novice, and explain the drug and its effects to someone who has no experience. I purchased this book for my mother. Her oldest grandson had just died of a heroin overdose. This book allowed her to feel more informed, ask more educated questions, and basically understand.........just a little.........of her deceased grandson's lifestyle. By no means is this a textbook on heroin, but it is a good and solid introduction. I would recommend this to someone who has no experience. I would not recommend this to anyone who does have experience with either the drug or the lifestyle.
