I've heard recordings of Facade performed by Edith Sitwell and Peter Pears, Jeremy Irons and Peggy Ashcroft, and Lynn Redgrave. I'd say Redgrave's is as good as Sitwell's performance, and maybe better; certainly farbetter than the Irons-Ashcroft recording. Ashcroft's voice is much too soft. Redgrave put a lot of study, thought and practice into her performance. It's very dramatic, the voice varies greatly and always suitably to the words. It's altogether superb. So glad I found this.
