Se que es un libro usado, pero que condiciones...Although one's search begins with an alphabetized listing, the main body of this thesaurus (its original concept) is organized by category. This means that to find a synonym for e.g., "trouble", you will not simply be presented a list all the possible meanings of the word but you can choose your search depending upon the sense you are looking for. If you mean "annoyance" you will be sent one place for synonyms (nouns, verbs, adj, adv); if your meaning is more "presume upon" you will be sent somewhere else. In the case of "trouble" there are about a dozen places to go in the thesaurus depending upon the subtlety of meaning you are looking for. If you are a writer, this reference work is a sine qua non. Look no further than here for the best thesaurus in the world.Roget's Thesaurus is always a welcome book. It should be introduced to children, and this book was, along with the children's book by Jen Bryant, "The Right Word" about Roget and his marvelous book. Thank you.I am sorry, I thought I had reviewed this purschase already. The book arrived in good condition and in a timely manner. When I looking for a new and up to date Thesaurus, but I didn't read carefully on how old it was, so I fault myself for it, not the seller, but I do wish I had read carefully on how old the Thesaurs is. I cannot use it and put aside. When I was a freshman in college, my creative writing instructor insisted that we buy this book. Really, it has been the most useful, most-used book in my entire library--even surpassing my OED. As a professional writer, it is invaluable--I CANNOT write without it. I have one for home and work, and wish they made a portable edition to keep in my car.Don't waste your money and time buying a thesaurus in dictionary form. In this edition, the words are grouped categorically by meaning, so you can find all the subtle variations and neighbors of "happy."Every poet and writer should have one of these. This makes a great gift for college students.Every bookstore has many reference books - a dictionary here, a Thesaurus there - and they are utilitarian, obviously. This particular Thesaurus, however, takes utilitarianism a step or two beyond dry. I'm a writer, and when I can't pull up the exact word to "write" a sense or feeling, the list in the back of this lovely, albeit heavy, book provides enough fodder for me to find exactly what will serve. Bless Kipfer and Chapman. This 1977 Fourth Edition (ISBN 0-690-0010-3) by Harper & Row is cross-indexed and alphabetized, eliminating the need to go search through the remainder of the book for a more comprehensive word list. This edition makes it easier to find more words for the meanings you are looking for, and vise versa. In my opinion, it has the best selection of what you want in a thesaurus.I was very glad to be able to find a copy. The best thesaurus produced, in my opinion. I wore my original out. The pages were falling apart. I looked at other models, but decided on the fifth edition! It was to replace a soft back copy i have used for ten years and being hardback it should be excellent. It was amazing that Amazon could find the used one at such a reasonable price. Most impressed.Thank you.does what it say on the cover!!! !!! !!! **** **** Nice and fast delivery, product exact as described **** *** *** , !!!! !!!! !!!!
