Initially I gave this book 3 stars, mainly because it was zoo based.Well, I have kept returning to it and have found it very helpful.The photos are very clear.Apparently you can distinguish lions by their whisker pattern- I cannot but this book does have some excellent photos to help me try on.As I read more on lions, this book is a useful set on lion photos to check new facts against.Your interests are unlikely to be the same as mine, but the benefit of zoo based photos is that you often get to see the details much more clearly.This book is a good compliment to photos taken in the wildThis is a reasonable set of Lion photos.Most , if not all appear to be zoo based photos.If you like seeing your lions in the wild ,then this may not be to your liking.The photos are crisp.There is no next.Lions, lionesses, Cubs are shown in various combinations.White lions are included.Sometimes one photo per page, often 2 or more.Sometimes you see a cub on one side , and an adult on the other side of the pageOther pages have one main photo and serial small ones.You see rhe lions resting, eating, playing and interacting with each otherI enjoyed the photos, but really missed seeing the lions in clear wildlife settings of Africa etc.If you like zoo based photos ( and they do have a place ) then this book may well be for you.I will be checking out what other titles are in this series.If you like telling stories to your child from photos then I would add a star. ( you can take turns in adding elements to the story )
